LEGISLATIVE ABUSES
Below are examples of real life legislative abuses. This
is not a complete list by any stretch of the imagination, but
it is enough to demonstrate why Honor In Office is needed.
Generally, our members of Congress are first lawmakers in their
respective states. Therefore, the state legislators you see
below are examples of what our current and future members of
Congress are like.

Congressman Murtha Finances His
Personal Airport with Taxpayer Money:
See
this video.
One hundred fifty million dollars of taxpayer
money wasted just for one member
of Congress. There are 535 members of Congress.
For this to occur year after year, the other members
of Congress must also be getting their backs comparably
scratched.
This happens when legislators aren't required
to publicly post bills days in advance of the
passing of a bill. This happens when they aren't
required to read and understand the full contents
of the bill, but instead are relying on the opinion
of some nameless face we never elected.
The money for the airport alone could have paid
the entire cost of strengthening the levies in
Louisiana, preventing the loss of so many lives
and fortunes, not to mention the enormous cost
to rebuild.

Time for Solitaire and Sports
- No Time to Read the Bills
Take a look at this
news report. Out of five visible screens,
two are playing solitaire, another is on FaceBook
and the other is checking out baseball scores.
It makes one wonder about the screens we can not
see. Apparently, debate, trying to make a bill
as good as possible, being efficient with one's
time, and putting in an honest day's work are
not high on our legislators' list of priorities.

Congressman Conyers Tries to
Fool the Public
Keep in mind that Congress has full
control over their house procedures. They are virtually
autonomous, and they have nearly unlimited resources
both financially and in the form of aides and consultants.
They control trillions of dollars and affect the
lives of hundreds of millions of people. Yet, somehow
they can't figure out how to organize their work
environment in order to do their jobs....

Senator Inhofe Disgraces the
Office he Holds.
On August 27, 2009, at a town hall meeting, Sen.
Jim Inhofe told Chickasha residents that he doesn't
need to read the 1,000 page health care bill.
He will vote against it anyway. "I don't have
to read it, or know what's in it. I'm going to
oppose it anyways," he said.
If any legislator has fundamental disagreements
with a bill, until that aspect is removed from
the bill, there is no need to read further. However,
it is irresponsible in the extreme to go on the
road trying to influence constituents and fellow
legislators regarding a bill one knows very little
about.

European Politics is in Worse
Shape
Take a look at the statement by this member of
the European
Parliament. Skipp through the first 9 minutes.
That's how U.S. politics will eventually be if
we don't act now to correct it.
