STATE BALLOT MEASURE
EXPLANATION:
Bolded is the proposed text and below it is the explanation.
(a) No house or committee vote shall occur on any bill that
is not written in a clear and coherent manner, using words with
common and everyday meanings that the average functionally literate
citizen can understand.
When it comes to consumer contracts, many states have already
enacted laws which require them to be written in a clear and coherent
manner using common everyday meanings. There's no reason why our
legislators shouldn't do the same. Common sense, dotting the I's
and crossing the T's come into play more quickly when our legislators
are able to easily understand what it is that they are voting
on. It makes for better, clearer and more succinct laws.
NOTE:
The full findings, declarations, etc., can be seen here.
Further explanation of the measure can be found here.
There are advantages
and perceived disadvantages to this measure, and they are
disclosed to you.
There is a plan
to make this law a reality and to also change the way government
works. If we don't do it, it will never happen. Certainly, we
can't rely on government.
There are easy ways you can help
out in the comfort of your own home doing things that you
normally already do.
