Honor in Office

THE OVERALL PLAN

1. Get an initiative written, which clearly states what we expect of our legislators. This first step is done.

2. Get the financial resources needed to pull this off. Your donation is needed and appreciated.

3. Conduct a Get-The-Word-Out campaign by every means possible (media, networking, etc.).

4. Get the signatures needed to put this measure on the statewide ballot.

5. Start with North Dakota, but assist others who want a similar law in their states, so that it becomes a national movement.

6a. Plan out, be prepared for and execute the advertising campaign prior to the election.

6b. Before the 2010 primary, conduct a campaign to encourage "new blood" to run for office, not career politicians. We need people in office whose judgment hasn't been blinded by party politics, and so can bring in a fresh perspective.

6c. Make sure the campaign includes a non-partisan effort to get rid of those incumbents who are "too busy" to do their actual jobs.

As a note: Keep in mind that the average Joe, contrary to what we have all been told, has more common sense than the average politician. If the California voters are any indication of the rest of the nation, 80%-95% of Americans opposed the 2008 bailout. Despite this, Washington passed it. We have come to discover that the average Joe exercises more caution and common sense than our politicians.

Getting this bill on the ballot and passed is a huge task requiring resources far in excess of mine. I can't do it alone. Fortunately, there are quite a few very easy things that you can do to help.

There are advantages to this plan and legislators will tell you there are disadvantages.
